1.Newborns sleep a lot, yet not for long stretches.
Motherhood is a fulfilling roller coaster ride, with all its ups and downs. The first few weeks, you are buying baby shoes in Malaysia, then the next few days you are worrying if your baby gets enough sleep. As for sleep, the first three months of your baby are crucial. She needs to eat every 2 to 3 hours. By the time she reaches 3 months, they can sleep for 6 to 8 hours.
2.The newborn stage wouldn’t last long.
The newborn stage is tiring, lonely and stressful. These days are difficult, but soon, they will soon pass. Going through, and enduring all the challenges is part of good parenting. Cherish every moment. Hold your child. Smell her, and kiss her.
3.Your baby may, in his first few weeks, appear a bit funny-looking.
Your child’s head may be smooshed a bit because of her adventure through the birth canal. Well, that is normal. She just spent nine months inside you. Soon, she will resemble the beautiful child you imagined her to be.
4.Your baby would let you know if she is eating enough food.
Your child must east every 2 to 3 hours. However, if you are nursing, it’s quite difficult to know the amount of breast milk she is getting. In this case, the weight of your baby is the best indicator. Keep in mind that a baby loses 5% to 8% of birthweight in the first week, but is sure to gain it back soon after that.
5.It’s normal for newborns to have dry skin.
Baby skin care is one of the most important things a new mother should focus on. At first, it may appear silky and soft, but it will soon change. Others would just ignore the dry skin issue, but if you want to address it, feel free to use a hypoallergenic lotion. As long as it’s fragrance free, and made especially for babies, it’s okay to use.
6.Newborns cry a lot.
Babies love to cry because that is how they communicate. They do this to tell you if they have a dirty diaper, hungry or want to be held. Cherish these early “conversations” with your child. It can be a bit frustrating, but in time, you will be able to handle it well.
